| January 2008 Welcome to the Pohick Post Online! Happy New Year to one and all! We hope that 2008 brings a year of many blessings to our congregation and to each of you. January is when we hold parish forums, and this month we have two on the calendar. The first is our Pre-council preview on Sunday, January 20, when our clergy and delegates to the 213th Diocesan Council will preview resolutions and other business before that body. A week later, on January 27, you will have an opportunity to meet in small groups with the members of our vestry so that you can share with them your ideas and reflections on the building plans presented in the Fall. Jeff Parker and the Renovations Committee will especially be seeking your thoughts on the immediate cosmetic and acoustic improvements we can make to the parish house this year. Both forums will be held during the Sunday School hour, 10:15 - 11:05 am. Also coming up this month is the Red Beans and Rice Dinner to support our fourth mission trip to New Orleans next month. Bring the whole family out on Sunday, January 20 at 6 pm for good food and good music, all in support of a great cause! Elsewhere in this month's edition, read the Rector's Annual Report for 2007, as well our Sr. Warden's summary of the December Vestry meeting. Late breaking news from our Treasurer: We finished 2007 in the black with a small surplus of several thousand dollars. By vestry vote, this will be transferred to the capital repair fund. Thanks to everyone for their wonderful generosity—and thanks be to God for his great goodness! Also, our Stewardship chair reports that our total dollar amount of pledges for 2008 is up, but we are still behind in the number of families pledging. And so, if you haven't gotten onboard yet, please remember to support the ongoing work of Pohick Church by mailing in your 2008 pledge card!
