The Pohick Country Fair is an annual event which, since 1944, the parishioners and clergy of Historic Pohick Church have put on for the enjoyment of the citizens of the local community, reaching into all of Northern Virginia.
The purpose of the Pohick Country Fair is to extend a welcome to the members of the community, allowing them to visit our historic grounds for a day of fun and relaxation. We use the proceeds generated by the event to maintain the many ministries of Pohick Church within the community, ministries that have continued in various forms since the days of our church's colonial vestry members, George Washington, George Mason, and George Fairfax.
The Fair includes games for the kids, a moon bounce, pony rides, a velcro wall, and booths staffed by different organizations within the church and from the larger community. At these booths, we sell baked goods, fair food, soft drinks, jewelry, books, and crafts. There is also information on both the church's history and ministries, as well as on local community groups and historical sites.
Members of the church will explain how apple butter was made on-site and cook a roasted-pork barbecue lunch for the guests attending the Fair. A turkey-shoot competition is also held adjacent to the fair grounds. Entertainment during the Fair is provided by our own guitar country band, the Pohick Pickers and a fantastic local group, The Ken Smith Band. Tours and a music recital are offered inside our colonial church, a national treasure listed on the National Register of Historical Places.
Join us for a great day of family fun, good food, and wholesome entertainment that is sure to bring joy to your whole weekend!
