obviously the synagogues were a protest against the temple. why else would the members of synagogues be so eager to make the annual trip to the temple.

You are probably aware that the Tomb of King Herod was discovered in an excavation by a Prof. Ehud Netzerof the Hebrew University of Jerusalem 8 May 2007. Thank you for your writings.

I am about to write a paper on ancient synagogues in the second Temple period, my slant is towards what actually was conducted in these synagogues especially in the Diaspora, who taught, how were they educated, etc. I will finish my Masters with this paper. I will come back to you later when I further into the unit.

.I have visited this site in Israel twice sept 2002 and again in Apr. 2003. I have a photo gragh taken of me and a travel companion standing within the main portion of the synagogue . My friend and I joined hands and we made an Ayin and Dalet sign with our hands ( Babylonian Hebrew ) which we were spelling "WITNESS" and to our amazement when we got the film developed the photogragh depicted beneath each of us was the ancient paleo Hebrew symbol that we displayed with our hands!!! Something is very special about that place and it keeps drawing me back.i will go again Around MAy 2007.
